Before the Class Work- Week 1

Creative Work

This is my drawing of Piranesi's 'Carceri (III)- The Round Tower' from his series of etchings The Prisons. The image gives off an illusion of space through the immensity of the Round Tower in comparison to the tiny human silhouettes. From this drawing I could feel an overwhelming feeling of isolation and desperation to find a way out which was quite intriguing at the time.

Great Piece Of Architecture

This building is known as the National Centre for Performing Arts, located in Beijing, China. Sometimes referred to as "The Giant Egg", this giant dome sits in the middle of an artificial lake and houses many events such as opera, concerts and plays. The most noticeable thing which makes this a great piece of architecture in my opinion is how the reflection of its simple egg-shaped body always appears in the water, enhancing both its interior and exterior.

Something Beautiful

This photo was taken by me in some place in Kunming, China during a holiday trip in 2013. I really like this image as it is surrounded by the true beauty and serenity of nature.
